WELCOME TO ALGARVE KITE CENTER

Kite center is on Algarve coast in a small town witch called Lagos, and for those who are not well versed in geography, it is in the very south of Portugal. Most of the windy days are about 95%, the kite center operates in a lagoon between Lagos and Alvor.

 

For those who think that it is possible to settle in one of these cities and get free without transport, they are deeply mistaken.

The distance is about 5 kilometers. With transport, it will be much easier in every sense to see the sights of the city (lighthouse, water caves, the old town).

Go to the west coast (Costa Vicentina, Cabo São Vicente lighthouse, Sagres fortress) and see elements of Atlantic Ocean, a wave breaking against high rocks.

Algarve is ideal for all water sports, including sailing-sports like kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Unlike other European kite spots, we combine here all the best qualities for active kite recreation:

GEOLOCATION AND WEATHER (WARM, OCEAN, SUNNY)

Because of pleasant location, Lagos is blown by Atlantic winds almost all year round and depending of the season, direction and strength of wind changes.

In summer season – main and best wind direction is: North, North-West. It blows in the afternoon when the mountains behind Lagos warm up. In cloudy weather or rain, there is a great chance that there will be no wind or wind will be very ragged and gusty.

In winter season – direction and strength of the wind is very changeable and 50% can only trust forecast, the best wind direction during this period is South-West, and North on sunny days. And unlike summer, the wind comes mostly with clouds, rain, thunderstorms and hurricanes. Moreover, the water temperature is the same as in summer.

CONSIDER PLACES FOR KITING AND LEARNING KITESURFING IN THE ALGARVE.

Everyone knows that it is easiest and safest to learn to kitesurf in shallow water, and there are two such places in the Algarve:

1. Rio Alvor – this is the very popular kite lagoon where our Algarve kite center operates, it is between Lagos and Alvor.


2. Ria Formosa – is a very flooded river and many places for kitesurfing, it flows along the ocean coast and is about 40 kilometers long.
The key areas for skiing are Quinta do Lago, Peninsula do Ancao, Tavira and Praia da Fuseta.


3. Wave spot – There is also a good kite spot with an excellent wave, on the West coast in a village of Carrapateira, the beach is called Bordeira, which also deserves attention and a separate discussion.
